The tea is great. The packaging is unhealthy and very wasteful. I know it's meant to be "special." But there are plastics in the mesh bag that get dissolved into your tea while it's steeping, and non-biodegradable packaging AND a heavy duty box! It seems very contradictory to me to be drinking a tea to improve my health and extend my life when the packaging itself is putting microplastics into my body and the rest of the packaging is polluting and destroying our precious plant. I may try the loose tea at some point so I can just steep it in a mesh basket, but likely that is over packaged as well to be very "special." I mean no disrespect, but while the product seems very good (4-5), the packaging cancels that out in my opinion (-5).

Thank you for your thoughtful and honest review. We truly appreciate both your kind words about the tea and your concerns about the packaging.

We understand your concern about plastics and microplastics. According to third-party SGS testing, the tea bag material tested was paper, not plastic mesh. The box was designed to help protect the tea and make it suitable for gifting, but we also understand your concern that the overall packaging may feel excessive.

Your feedback is important to us, and we will share it with our team as we continue reviewing packaging materials, presentation, and sustainability. Thank you again for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback.

I have been drinking Ashitaba for over 20 years now. I have it every morning. The only disapointment is that the tea bags have gone from 3.5 to 2.5.

I've been drinking this tea now for over 25 years. Each morning I have a cup of Ashitaba to start my day.
